Here's an overview of the typical progression:

  1. Discovery Flight: Your introduction to flying, where you'll experience the thrill of taking the controls under the guidance of an instructor.

  2. Private Pilot Certificate: The foundation of your flying career, allowing you to fly solo and carry passengers. Estimated hours: 40-60 hours.

  3. Instrument Rating: Enhances your ability to fly in a wider range of weather conditions by teaching you to fly solely by reference to instruments. Estimated hours: 40-50 hours.

  4. Commercial Pilot Certificate: Enables you to get paid for flying, opening doors to various aviation careers. Estimated hours: 190-250 hours.

Private Pilot License (PPL)

  • Your First Big Milestone
    The Private Pilot License is the foundation of your flying career, teaching you to fly solo, carry passengers, and navigate safely under visual flight rules (VFR).

Commercial Pilot

    Build flight hours by teaching others while earning your instructor certification. This allows you to log flight time and get compensated.
