Lechene Aviation, LLC is a veteran-owned and locally operated aviation service provider based in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Our mission is simple: to keep aircraft flying safely and to train the next generation of skilled, confident pilots. We specialize in aircraft and helicopter maintenance, inspections, and flight training — and we take pride in doing the job right, every time.

Our Founder — Mat Lechene

Mat Lechene is the heart and soul behind Lechene Aviation—a dedicated husband, father of four, and a proud U.S. veteran whose love of country runs as deep as his love of flying. With 25 years in the aviation industry, Mat brings both experience and passion to every flight experience. He’s been a licensed pilot for 15 years and a certified mechanic for 23 years, holding credentials that include A&P Mechanic, Inspection Authorization, and is a CFI for both airplane and helicopter.

His time in the service shaped his commitment to excellence, discipline, and integrity—qualities that now define every facet of Lechene Aviation. From meticulous aircraft maintenance to personalized instruction during each Discovery Flight, Mat’s mission is to serve others with the same dedication he brought to his country.

As a family man, he values trust, safety, and creating unforgettable experiences. Whether he's inspiring new pilots, sharing the beauty of flight, or swapping stories on the tarmac, Mat’s warmth, professionalism, and patriotism are always at the forefront.

Our Facility

We proudly operate out of Jimmy Stewart Airport (KIDI) in Indiana, Pennsylvania — a historic and conveniently located airport named after hometown hero and WWII pilot Jimmy Stewart. With a 5,000-foot runway, full-service FBO, and easy access to western PA, KIDI provides an ideal base of operations for both our maintenance shop and our growing flight school.
